Your new house has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you close on a house, you’ll notice that the previous owners left a smart home system. All the devices function well, are hung in the best places, and are ready to go. In this example, all you may have to do is to call and establish a new service contract. A Vivint professional will still show up to ensure there are no integration problems, and they may offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a fast trip, and you can have your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The previous homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make the transfer a snap. If the outgoing residents downsize to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the home security contract might be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your home security devices with you
You might want to take your existing Vivint system with you to your new home when you move. That’s fairly easy to accomplish, as most smart devices are plug and play. You can take down each component yourself or call a professional installer to dismantle your devices. Then a pro will hang the same components -- and any new things you need -- in the new house. Your home security contract will keep the same.
